Welcome to UCL Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering
"CEGE is in a state of impressive expansion. Over the last nine years we have increased the number of academic staff from 30 to 50, our research income has increased by over a third since 2008/9, we currently hold the largest EPSRC research portfolio in civil engineering and in 2012 we are the 1st Civil Engineering department in the Guardian League Table – a position determined largely by the responses of our students to third-party surveys. We have invested over £5m in the laboratories and workshops over the past five years and transformed our undergraduate degree programmes in a bold initiative which has won praise from the Royal Academy of Engineering, you can also read about the undergraduate course in The Guardian."
"We have recently made important professorial appointments in Structures and Geomechanics which strengthen our core skills while maintaining the natural eclecticism for which we are internationally renowned, in terms of our fundamental and applied research, education and development. All in the cause of using civil, environmental and geomatic engineering to create a better world.”
(Nick Tyler, Head of Department, November 2012)
